Principal Message

Beachwood Principal Paula Gayson

Hello Beachwood Families,

It’s hard to believe this crazy year has come to an end. I am extremely proud of the work students and staff did to continue learning through the Coivd-19 closure of the school building. Many of you have seen the rock garden in front of our school. The large rock says, “Covid-19 may have closed the building, but Beachwood continued to rock it. We didn’t just rise; we thrived”. Throughout the closure, we had roughly 95% of our students engage in on-line learning with their teachers and continue to grow and learn despite the challenges we faced. Thank you to our parents for ensuring your kids got on-line each day and provided the support they needed to do so.

I recently sent out a list of on-line resources that are available for students throughout the summer. Please have students continue to use those resources and read every day. Just a little bit each day can make a huge difference. The on-line resource flyer is also posted in Peachjar (under the “Parents” tab).

I know there are lots of questions about what next year will look like. The District is studying the OSPI and CDC guidelines and being thoughtful and deliberate as we work through possible scenarios. When decisions are made, communication will be sent out to families.

We are taking on-line enrollments now. Please encourage any new families who move into the neighborhoods to get on-line and register their students for school. Having accurate numbers helps us in staffing and classroom assignments.

Thanks for your support throughout the year in helping to make Beachwood an awesome place to be. Enjoy your summer break and all the adventures it will bring.

Respectfully,

Miss Gayson
